The only 2 differences WHATSOEVER on a TT vs NA tranny are: 1)The bellhousing of an NA is machined to accept a smaller flywheel and in order to use a TT flywheel you must grind metal off of 2 places for it to clear a TT flywheel- the portion on the inside in front of the starter and the first knot of metal at about the 7 O'clock area also on the inside (looking at the the tranny from the engine side) then shim the starter out about half the the difference between the diameter of a TT flywheel and an NA flywheel. 2)The speed sensorThe difference in top speed comes from the differential.
*disclaimer*: all that I say may be true or I may be completely wrong and I accept that.... please, it is your duty as another person on the internet to in-politely tell me how wrong I am :) "The dreaded 2nd windshiled wiper swipe when you turn it off its almost like tis showing you that it's boss, and it doesn't have to stop when you tell it to :("-College Boy (discussion on ptu relocation) "No good reason to put it there anyway. -Bernie (NoVA) False -vorpalZ False. -Bernie (NoVA) You're correct, there are 3 good reasons -vorpalZ False. -Bernie (NoVA) Wow, right again, just remembered another, make that 4 -vorpalZ" XD
